User Interface / Experience Design is my current focus even though it is not the career I initially planned for myself. I studied Graphic Design for 2 years, where I gained 2 national qualifications and 6 Adobe Certified Associate certifications. I have fairly well-rounded knowledge in Graphic and Web design.
I am a firm believer in owning up to your responsibilities, being true to who you are and helping others grow instead of using them as a tool to accomplish your own goals. I love seeing others succeed, which is why I do my best to help others in my field by being understanding, empathetic, and including team members in what I do. Design is a team effort and there’s no value in being selfish in your field - there is always room for improvement and working in a team allows for solutions that you would never have thought of by yourself.
Outside of work I try to remain creative by dabbling in drawing, colouring in, baking and reading blogs. I enjoy going to the beach. I am a nature & animal lover, tattoo fanatic, avid reader (Stephen King novels in particular) and I'm always listening to music or podcasts.

Freelance Visual Designer
Table View, Cape Town
I've recently given up the "corporate ladder" to pursue my lifelong dream - to do my own thing.
I am a freelance designer working with Fresh Communication on a regular basis. I help design and build web pages on their clients' intranet site, as well as creating posters, presentations and other marketing content.
I primarily work on Adobe Xd for UI designs and prototypes. I use Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop to create graphic content and HTML and CSS to build web pages.
I also work with other clients to create UI designs and prototypes for their client's websites. I do a bit of everything! My work ranges from graphic to web to UI to UX design.
UI / UX Designer
Claremont, Cape Town
My duties involved collaborating with the development team to implement new features to the product by brainstorming and conceptualising ideas, creating low and high fidelity wireframes, user journeys and eventually fully prototyped UI designs.
I was the only designer on the team for this product, but I collaborated with our other designer and Product Owner (of both products) situated in Sidney on a weekly basis.
I primarily worked on Adobe Xd for wireframes, UI designs and prototypes. I used OverFlow for user journeys and GitHub to create and track tasks related to the product we worked on.
In the past I have utilised Sketch, InvisionApp and Balsamiq for my work, and I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for other design tasks I occasionally received.

My focus varied from digital, print and web design and I would work on projects like logo and brand identity, brochures and flyers, social media content, website design & creation (using WordPress), web banners and advertising, exhibition and displays, posters and the like.
My toolkit for this position included Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Muse, After Effects, Premiere Pro and occasionally Animate. I also used WordPress and Canva for web and social media content.
I worked part-time whilst studying and was exposed to a lot of real-world experience while learning new skills and putting them to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
